vCenter คือ อะไร ทำไมต้องมี
ถ้าเปรียบ vSphere เสมือน พนักงาน vCenter ก็เปรียบเสมือน Manager vSphere สามารถแบ่ง VM ได้ด้วยตัวของมันเอง แต่มันไม่สามารถข้ามเครื่องได้ ทำ Automation หรือ ทำสารพัดฟีเจอร์ของตัวเองได้ หากไม่มีการสั่งการโดย vCenter ดังนั้น vCenter ก็เสมือนหัวใจหลักเลยทีเดียว ทีคอยสั่งการสิ่งต่างๆ

ดังนั้น vCenter นั้นจะล่มไม่ได้ จึงมีตัวนึงที่เรียกว่า vCenter Heatbeat ขายเพื่อเป็น vCenter สำรอง

แล้ว vCenter ลงบนอะไร
vCenter นั้นลงได้ทั้ง 2 แบบคือ บน Windows Server จะอยู่ใน HOSTS ก็ได้ หรือ ลงแบบ vCenter appliance ซึ่งจะอยู่บน Linux + Postgres SQL นั้นเอง แต่ก็จะมีฟีเจอร์ที่จำกัด แต่สำหรับบน Windows Server ก็จำเป็นต้องใช้ SQL Server ถ้าจะใช้ SQL Express ก็จะจำกัดขนาดของ Database ก็ต้องระมัดระวังนิดนึงนะ
